Happy Ending to Successful Saab Campaign

January 6, 2006

Phoenix -- Sometimes trying to be a good citizen, as well as a good airline, has unexpected benefits. Recently, thanks to US Airways and SkyMedia, Swedish automaker Saab became a partner with Angel Flight, the Tulsa, Okla.-based charity that arranges free medical flights for needy patients undergoing treatment. And the relationship between the two sparked on a US Airways flight. Because of SkyMedia, the folks who handle tray table advertising,
Saab became involved with the Miles of Hope program, which enabled
pre-merger AWA passengers to donate FlightFund miles to their choice of
four national non-profit organizations.

As part of its inflight ad campaign, Saab with SkyMedia bought one million FlightFund miles so that it could donate them to our four designated charities; its ads asked passengers to vote on which charity should receive the miles. The overwhelming support for Angel Flight inspired Saab to get even more involved with the group.

Director of Community Relations Julie Coleman received a letter from
Angel Flight Executive Vice President Steve Patterson. Steve wrote that
the donation campaign enabled Saab to learn who Angel Flight is, and
that as a result Saab decided to become a national sponsor in 2006.
And there’s more good news: This year, the Miles of Hope program will be expanded to include passengers in the pre-merger US Airways Dividend Miles program. That will triple the number of eligible passengers easily able to donate miles to the participating charity of their choice.
